The West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee asked the media to highlight the positive side of her government was not demolish the image of the state.
Banerjee lashed out at certain television channels for targeting her government by spreading ‘canards and exaggerated and negative news items’ to show the administration in a bad light. ‘The Maa Maati Maanush Government lives upto its promises to the people’, she said.
‘Wrong news items and canards are being circulated by a section of the media, particularly some news channels, to target the government. They are even distorting my own version,’ Banerjee said after releasing the special puja edition of the Trinamool Congress organ ‘Jaago Bangla’, here.
The chief minister said highlighting rape incidents is a case in point. ‘Everyday rape incidents are being highlighted as if the entire state has become the rape capital. Rape is sought to be glorified by these people. This will not be tolerated ,’ she said.
