Wellness hub to come up in New Town soon

If things go as per plan, then a wellness hub, the first of its kind in Bengal, is going to come up in Rajarhat New Town. Debashis Sen, chairman of Housing Infrastructure and Development Corporation (Hidco) said the hub was likely to be ready by April.

It is meant for those who want to come out of stress and monotony of everyday’s life. People from corporate field will be given priority but common people are also welcome to visit the hub.

It may be mentioned that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had stressed the need to set up infrastructure to carry out business. New Town is coming up as a Smart City.

Sen said there would be a Lily pool for children and separate swimming pools for adults. There will also be a tennis court and indoor game facilities like basketball and table tennis.

Sen said trial run was going on every day. There will be a gynmasium and space to practice yoga and other exercises.

He said gym instructor and other managers would be appointed soon. It may be stated that both doctors and psychologists have said that steps should be taken to bring down tension and stress. 

The facilities that are available at the wellness hub are often found in clubs. 

However, setting up a wellness hub in the middle of nature is unique. It may be mentioned that New Town had already been set up as a cultural hub. Plays by budding theatre groups are performing at Rabindra Tirtha every Sunday. The Eco Park has already become a destination.
