Weapons used in murder missing

Now that they have the postmortem report, the Delhi police have yet another puzzle to solve in the investigation of Ponty Chadha double murder case. The weapons used to kill both the brothers – Ponty and Hardeep Singh – are still missing.

Earlier, the Delhi police claimed that they have recovered all the weapons that were used in the shoot-out. But after the autopsy report of Ponty and Hardeep, Delhi police are unable to establish which weapons were used in the murder.

The empty bullet shells that were recovered from the crime scene where the bloody shoot-out took place, were .30 bore (service revolver), .38 bore (service revolver), 7.62 bore (mouser), 7.68 bore (mouser) and carbine empty bullet shells. However, sources said that the bullets that were recovered from Ponty’s body are .30 bore, 7.65 bore and 7.67 bore.

According to the police sources, the autopsy reports states that Ponty received seven bullet injuries on his body, but only four bullets were found inside his body. The rest of the bullets went through his body. There were even bruishes pointing to bullets grazing. As per the autopsy report, Ponty was first shot on his leg (above thigh), handicapping his movement. Further, two bullet wounds were found in his abdomen and two on his chest. Two more rounds have hit his upper back.

‘None of the bullets that were fired at Hardeep Singh remained inside his body, all went through. But two gun shot injuries were noticed on his body, specifically on his upper chest,’ the source added.

A senior police official said, ‘We cannot conclude anything without the ballistic report, which is still being awaited.’ On Tuesday, a team of doctors that conducted the postmortem of both the Chadha brothers visited the farmhouse to recreate the crime scene that would help them in preparing their autopsy report.

The four bullets that resided inside Ponty’s body were recovered from heart, abdomen and legs (one above the thigh and another below the thigh).
