WBHIDCO chalks out plan to celebrate Bengali New Year

West Bengal Housing and Development Corporation (WBHIDCO) has chalked out an elaborate programme to celebrate Bengali New Year on April 14.

A seminar will be held at Nazrul Tirth entitled Notun Bochore Bangla Cinemar Notun Diganta. Director and singer Anindya Chatterjee along with Barun Chanda of Satyajit Roy’s Shimabaddha fame and Mahua Halder will take part in the discussion. Open T Bioscope, directed by Chatterjee will be shown after the discussion.

There will be special Bengali menu at the houseboat restaurant and Café Ekante. The houseboat restaurant, a new addition to Eco Park has been designed after the houseboats of Kerala and Kashmir. 

A team from HIDCO had been to Kerala and the houseboat is a combination of both Kerala and Kashmiri style. 

Apart from Bengali cuisine, there will be continental and Moghlai dishes to excite taste buds of the visitors. The interior has been made of wood. 

There is also an air conditioned chamber. The guests can enjoy their food sitting on the deck.

Special Bengali menu will be available at Café Ekante. It may be recalled that the restaurant was named by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. It has become immensely popular because of quality food and ambience.

A programme on Baul Gan and Dhamsa will be held at Eco Park to celebrate Poila Baishak. It may be mentioned that Eco Park has become the new tourist destination in the city. 

More than 50 lakh people have visited the park having flower garden, a replica of toy train of Darjeeling and a huge water body. The USP of the park is cleanliness and people violating the dos and don’ts are fined.
