Walia asks education dept to pull up socks

Minister of Education and Social Welfare, Kiran Walia, has given directions to senior officers of Education department to provide best education to students, as ‘it is the priority and prime duty of the government’. Walia said, ‘We wish to see that Delhi becomes the state where students perform the best in the country in Board examinations. Teachers should also ensure their full devotion.’ Walia addressing the Education department officials during a meeting in her chamber at Delhi Secretariat on Monday.
The meet was attended by Education Secretary Diwan Chand, Director of Education Amit Singla and deputy directors.
She said there was a need to sensitise teachers towards their duties to students. She added that students appearing in the Board examination, if needed, should be provided with counselling by Directorate of Education. Walia asked district officers to regulate and ensure attendance of students in schools.
