The arrested men have revealed to the police that they were paid Rs 3 crore for the killing.
In a joint operation, Delhi police crime branch and Vijaywada police arrested seven men who had allegedly killed three persons on NH-16 in Andhra Pradesh. The victims were identified as G Nageswara Rao, G Maraian and P Maraiah.
‘All the seven accused have been sent to transit remand to Vijaywada police,’ Ashok Chand, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) said.
Speaking to Millennium Post over telephone, Tafseer Iqbal, Vijaywada Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law & Order) said, ‘We are intensively quizzing all seven persons. After collecting necessary evidence against the two main accused Vijayawada-based brothers — Butham Sriniwas Rao and Buthum Govinda we will either issue a look out notice or a red corner notice against them.’ The Buthan brothers are astrologers by profession and a known name in London. Govinda use to visit London frequently for his work. But from the past four months, he has been residing in London.
The Buthan brothers were seeking revenge for the murder of their brother, hotelier Durgarao on 6 April after his daughter had eloped with Nageswara Rao’s son. ‘Families of Nageswara Rao and Govinda are close relatives and both the families have a status fight in the village.
In the recent municipal elections in Vijaywada both families contested from the same party but were supported by different candidates. It resulted into a political tiff between both the families,’
Iqubal added.
