A beaming Vijay Kumar said it was a dream come true to win an Olympic medal and it was possible because he managed to keep his composure in the tense final. 'In shooting, you have to control your emotions to maintain concentration. You have to have control over your nervous system, I am happy that I managed to do that,' Vijay said.

'I always believed that army shooters have the ability to strike it rich. Vijay has proved it. They all have the potential to win medals at major international competitions and they are proving it,' said Vijay's Russian coach Pavel Smirnov, who has been working with him for the last five years.

India could have won more laurels on Friday through unfancied shooter Joydeep Karmakar who missed missed the bronze medal by a whisker in double trap.
