Victim ‘finds’ man who robbed him

Fed up with police apathy, a youth did the job of cops in Noida. He conducted investigation and finally nabbed the thug who duped him  of Rs 40,000 almost a fortnight ago. The police is now considering a reward for him.

According to the police,  the culprit Mohammed Abid used hypnotising skills to dupe the money and valuables from his targets and is mostly active around banks. ‘He generally targets customers who withdraw huge amount of money from the bank and robs it by hypnotising them,’ said Rita Yadav, inspector of Sector 20 police station.

On 23 October, he targetted Gopal, 24, an employee of a private company in Noida, when he was coming out of the bank with Rs 40,000 cash he had just withdrawn  from a nationalised bank in Sector 27 in Noida.

‘As I came out from the bank, he greeted me and put his hand on my head. After that I followed him and handed over the money to him. After two hours, I gained conscious and found myself lying on the road,’ Gopal informed the police. Gopal lodged a police complaint with Sector 20 police station but police did not show any interest in the case.

Gopal, along with his brother Ajay, decided to nab the culprit himself. He started in and around the area that he was robbed.

They started visiting the bank regularly just in case he decides to come back. And on Friday afternoon, they succeeded in their search and handed the accused over to the police. The companion of the accused, Ram Dev, managed to flee from the spot. The culprits reside in New Ashok Nagar and the victim are from Sector 122 in Noida.

‘We are considering a reward,’  said Praveen Kumar, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Noida.
