Venkaiah launches cleanliness drive in government offices

The Ministry of Urban Development on Monday announced the planned thematic drive in government office complexes to be extensively conducted between May 16 and May 31 across the nation, state and urban local bodies (ULBs) government offices and buildings. The cleanliness drive in offices would be undertaken by government employees and staff members.

The ministry has also issued directives to all state mission directors and ULBs, suggesting a series of activities the civic bodies could take up during the fortnight-long drive. The suggestions include general cleaning of government office premises, cleaning and repair of sanitary facilities and weeding out old/ unused files materials.

Launching the drive Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu planted a neem sapling at Nirman Bhawan and took stock of sanitation at the building. He reviewed corridors, rooms, toilets, water tanks and solar panels of the building etc.

In a meeting with senior officials, Naidu said there was a considerable improvement towards cleanliness.
