In yet another shooting spree in the capital, a Delhi police constable allegedly killed two persons in outer Delhi, before committing suicide himself, on late Wednesday night.
The accused has been identified as constable Vijay Kumar and the deceased as Manoj, 36, and his 65-year-old mother Prakshwati. Reportedly, Manoj was married to Kumar’s sister, who died under mysterious circumstances and he remarried. The constable was waiting to take a revenge.
‘The incident took place on Thursday in Bakhtawarpur village in Alipur area. Kumar was posted in security wing of Delhi police while Manoj was a teacher in a government school, and was living with his second wife and mother in Alipur,’ said a police official.
B K Jaiswal, deputy commissioner of police (Outer), said Manoj and Prakshwati were shot inside the house and then Kumar went to Alipur police station and shot himself there. ‘Investigation is going on in the matter,’ Jaiswal added.
According to a senior police official, Kumar could not bear that Manoj got married to another girl so soon after his sister died, especially as it was not clear how she met her end. Kumar suspected Manoj himself killed her.
On Wednesday night, Kumar went to Manoj’s house but he was not there. ‘On Thursday, Kumar went to another residence of Manoj, and the moment he opened the door, Kumar started firing. Manoj suffered five gunshots and Prakashi received three gunshots. She died on the spot while Manoj succumbed to his injuries on the way to hospital,’ said the official.
