Vardhan promises to wipe away ‘rape capital’ stigma

He also promised online registration of FIRs, setting up exclusive women protection force and financial assistance for women entrepreneurs.
‘We pledge to wipe away the stigma of being labeled the ‘Rape capital of India’. Rape, molestation, domestic abuses are manifestations of a sick society. As a doctor I will strive to cure this disease permanently, ‘said Vardhan.
‘The measures will ensure that women in Delhi are free from fear, harassment and exploitation and can become equal partners in India’s growth and progress,’ he added. He further added that the Nirbhaya case shocked the conscience of this nation, so a strong deterrence and swift punishments are imperative.
Some of the measures include, one thousand vulnerable spots will be provided extraordinary security through lighting, CCTV, and round-the-clock patrolling.
Another measure is the creation of a new 25,000-strong Delhi Women’s Protection Force (DWPF) , that will be trained by international experts and equipped with the latest technology.
