A woman from Uzbekistan has filed a complaint against a resident of South Delhi’s Mahipalpur area, alleging that he had raped her on the pretext of marriage. She further alleged that he kept her hostage and tried to force her into flesh trade. The accused has been identified but is yet to be arrested.
The incident was reported late Saturday night when the victim reached the Vasant Kunj (North) police station with a friend. She told the police that she came to India to meet Raja, who befriended her on the social networking site Facebook, a few days ago.
“The accused introduced himself as Raja, a businessman. Initially, the duo started chatting and after sometime, Raja proposed her for marriage. She accepted the proposal and he asked her to visit India. When she came here, the accused arranged for her lodging in a South Delhi hotel, where he raped her,” she told the police.
Later, the accused kept her hostage at an unidentified place. He even tried to force her into flesh trade, the police said. He allegedly introduced the victim to his wife, Anjali, who was also into prostitution racket. According to the complainant, several cases have been registered against Anjali and she is evading arrest.
She alleged that the couple tried to lure her into the gang. When she refused and tried to flee, they allegedly snatched her passport, cash, and mobile phone. On Saturday, she managed to escape and contacted her friend. They, then, reached the police station and filed a complaint. A case under relevant sections of the IPC has been registered against the couple and the Uzbekistan Embassy has been informed. The woman’s medical examination confirmed rape, the police said.
The police are trying to apprehend Raja and his wife.
