Uttarkashi eco-sensitive zone notification will be reconsidered, Moily assures U’khand

Moily promised to adopt a positive approach in the matter and reconsider the state’s objections.
Bahuguna sought an increase in the time frame for determination of eco-sensitive zone areas around national parks and sanctuaries, which was accepted. Discussions were also held on giving permission for excavation in the Ganga and its tributaries in Haridwar and the Sukhro river in Pauri Garhwal.
He appealed to Moily to establish forest ministry’s regional office in Dehradun that would ensure speedy decisions on land acquisition below five hectares area. The later has asked the officers of the ministry to soon issue a notification in this regard.
The CM said that there was no representative from the state in the committee formed to study the impact of hydel projects on the environment constituted by the Supreme Court. He sought proper representation for the state on the committee.
