Uttar Pradesh on high alert after execution, prohibits celebrations

Uttar Pradesh government has sounded a ‘high alert’ in the state following execution of Ajmal Kasab, the only terrorist caught alive during the 26/11 attacks in Mumbai, asking district police chief to strictly maintain law and order.

‘Police has been deployed at sensitive places in the state while patrolling has been intensified,’  the police spokesman said here on Wednesday.

He said any victory celebrations have been prohibited and vigil in Muslim dominated localities intensified. Police had issued alert advisory in the entire state and ‘high alert’ in 17 districts.

Meanwhile, cutting across political lines,prominent political parties in UP  have welcomed execution of Kasab. Ruling SP General secretary Ramasrey Kushawaha in a statement here said it is a right’ decision taken at the appropriate time. ‘It is also a lesson for the forces who are working against the country,’ he said.

Congress MLA Akhilesh Pratap Singh said that the execution proves that India will not spare anyone who creates trouble in the country. ‘The law took its course where even a terrorist was given fair trial, ‘ he said adding that the execution was also a tribute to those who lost their lives.
