Ustad’s ode to France

Celebrating the 60th birthday of Alliance Francaise de Delhi, a three day festival had been organised, wherein on the second day music lovers got to witness bliss, as Ustad Amjad Ali Kahn took the audience to a wonderful musical journey through his graceful sarod instrumental.

He started off with a special composition - that he had prepared for the evening to celebrate 60 years of Alliance Francaise de Delhi - ‘Priye France’. He then played the Kedara Raga and Swaraswati Raga winning hearts.

Accompanying him on tabla were Ustad Rashid Mustafa and Pandit Vineet Vyaas, who brought in the perfect combination of musical ensemble with the sawal jawab patterns other than complementing the sarod.

Ustad Amjad Ali Khan ended his performance with a beautiful piece – Rabindranath Tagore’s ‘Ekla cholo re’ to which he also gave a Bihu twist. With a standing ovation from the overflowing audience in the auditorium the musical journey came to an end as the organisation felicitated the trio for gracing the occasion with their musical prowess.
