The US embassy in the Pakistani capital on Friday said it has not taken any position on former Pakistani president Pervez Musharraf, who was arrested Friday. Musharraf, who took over power in a coup in 1999, had allowed the US military to use some Pakistani air bases for military operations against the Taliban in Afghanistan, Xinhua reported.
The former president recently admitted that he had also struck a secret deal with the US over some drone strikes in the country’s militant-infested tribal region. The US embassy Friday issued a statement to clarify its position on his arrest.
