A section of Income Tax Department employees on Thursday observed a one-day strike in protest against the HR policy of CBDT. The I-T offices remained closed in response to the strike call, claimed the Joint Council of Action of Income Tax Employees Federation and the Income Tax Gazetted Officers’ Association in a press statement.
The employees, it said, are protesting against the “lackadaisical and partisan attitude of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT)”. The Council said CBDT has not yet notified the rules relating to promotion and cadre restructuring though it has accepted the sixth Central Pay Commission report on the issue two years ago. It claimed that the outsourcing of work by CBDT has impacted the functioning of the I-T Department.
