‘The government is not listening to our demands. It’s high time government should take this issue seriously. We demand that CSAT should be scrapped and this year UPSC exam should be delayed by one month,’ said Saket Bhauguna, state secretary of ABVP (Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad), BJP’s student wing.
Aspirants raised slogans and held placards against UPSC when police intervened. They were later detained and taken to Tilak Marg police station.
‘25 people were detained while protesting outside UPSC office but they were released in evening,’ informed police officials.
Besides this, the protest also continued at Mukherjee Nagar, where effigy of UPSC chairman DP Aggarwal was burnt.
‘We have been demanding for so many days now. Our demands seem to be falling on deaf ears. But we will continue with our protest until our demands are met,’ said Arvind Kumar, a UPSC aspirant.
The government has assured the students to look into the matter. Jitendra Singh, minister of state for Personnel and Public Grievances said, ‘the students should have some patience, the government is looking into it. We are also concerned about it.’
‘We need to be concerned about them and, in turn, they should also exercise restraint and have some patience as the government is already at it,’ said Jitendra Singh.
The CSAT-II paper carries questions on comprehension, interpersonal skills, including communication skills, logical reasoning and analytical ability, decision-making and problem-solving, general mental ability, basic numeracy, and English language comprehension skills (of Class
10 level).
