In a major concern for the aspirants of civil services examination, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has postponed the date for issuance of notification for 2015 examination without citing any reason. The UPSC civil services exam that was scheduled to be notified on Saturday (May 16) has been postponed at the last minute.
The authorities have not provided any reason for the postponement of the date of issuing the notification. The official site of UPSC simply stated, “The civil services examination, 2015, which was scheduled to be notified on May 16, 2015 is now being postponed. The revised date of notification will be intimated in due course.”
It is likely that the delay has been caused due to the confusion surrounding the CSAT. On Wednesday, the government declared that it will continue with the Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT) in the civil services preliminary examination 2015. It also set 33 per cent score as the pass mark.
However, the central government will also appoint an expert committee to look into the complaints made by the civil services aspirants, regarding the syllabus, eligibility, scoring scheme and paper pattern of the CSAT. The final decision will be made based on the committee’s observations. Till then the General Studies Paper II (CSAT) will continue as a qualifying exam.
Also, the candidates who appeared for the UPSC civil services preliminary examination in 2011 will be granted an extra attempt this year, according to the Department of Personnel and Training.
