Upadhyay’s complaint ‘malafide and motivated’

Denying all charges,  the AAP leader wrote that the complaint was a counter action by the complainant and/or his party to distract the people from voting for AAP by diverting their attention.

“I deny the allegations of the complainant. The information disseminated during the press conference was based on cogent and reliable material available in the public domain and ground perception among the local public at large,” Kejriwal wrote in his letter to the Election Commission.

The EC had issued a notice against Kejriwal after Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay filed a complaint against him for making “false, baseless and unverified allegations against him”. Attaching documents, including links to the website of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs and BSES showing the list of the companies in which Upadhyay is a director as well as his company in the list of approved electricity services vendors, Kejriwal said: “these are self-explanatory” and the “conflict of interest of the complainant is patently obvious.”

Denying violation of the model code of conduct, Kejriwal further added that the press conference was held only to raise these questions to “bring the actual situation to the knowledge of the general public”, which is part of the objective of the model code of conduct.

Earlier on Thursday, Kejriwal said the party would be presenting evidences to prove its allegations against Upadhyay.

The Delhi BJP chief, however, had threatened to sue Kejriwal over power discom allegations.
The AAP supremo has alleged that Upadhyay’s companies had supplied electric meters to Anil Ambani-group controlled power utility BSES and that the party was soft on discoms who were involved in corruption.
