The UP government on Friday recommended a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the death of Sara Singh, daughter-in-law of jailed former minister Amarmani Tripathi, in a car accident in Firozabad earlier this month.
“The government has sent a letter to the Centre recommending CBI probe into <g data-gr-id="23">mysterious</g> death of Sara Singh in Firozabad on July 9,” said UP Home Secretary, Mani Prakash Mishra. Sara (27) was killed on July 9 when the car in which she was travelling fell into a pit in Firozabad district. Her husband Tripathi, who was driving the car, had miraculously escaped unhurt, raising doubts over the accident.
The family, suspecting a foul play, had been knocking the doors of the Raj Bhawan, Chief Minister, DGP and SSP of Lucknow, demanding a CBI inquiry.
Sara’s mother Seema Singh had called on Governor Ram Naik and CM Akhilesh Yadav, apprising them of the case, and pressed for a CBI probe. The leaders assured her of help. The family had also demanded Tripathi and his father Amarmani Tripathi’s narco analysis test.
A First Information report (FIR) under sections of murder was lodged against Amanmani Tripathi at the Sirsaganj police station of Firozabad on July 18, police said.
