UP MLA’s wife was killed over property dispute: cops

Five days after the brutal murder of BSP MLA, Haji Aleem Choudhary’s wife, Rehana (40), at her residence in north-east Delhi’s New Jafrabad area, Delhi police claimed that she was killed over a property dispute by two of his sons from an earlier marriage. The two accused are absconding.

Haji Aleem Choudhary (56) was on a pilgrimage to Haj during the incident.  V V Chaudhary, additional commissioner of police (north-east) said, ‘Aleem had three wives. The second wife, Kamar Jahan, has two sons, who have been identified as Danish and Anas. During the investigation, names of the two appeared. The reason behind the murder is alleged to be a family dispute over property.’

He added that the MLA used to give preferential treatment to his second wife, Kamar Jahan and their sons Danish and Anas. However, they had developed grudges against Rehana, as Aleem married Rehana. The brothers feared that Aleem might share his property with Rehana, with Aleem recently buying a flat in Delhi, under Rehana’s name. To take revenge, both Danish and Anas hatched a plan to kill Rehana so that they could get their share of the property. To execute the murder plan, they roped in the driver of their business partner, identified as Mohammed Nadeem (30), a native of Meerut.

According to the plan, Anas was to enter Rehana’s residence on the pretext of a friendly visit, as he had healthy relations with her. On Wednesday, Anas knocked Rehana’s door who was accompanied by Danish and Nadeem. Danish was carrying a pistol while Nadeem had a knife.

When Rehana went to kitchen to arrange some refreshment for them, in the trio attacked Rehana.
Nadeem stabbed her with the knife and in the meantime Danish opened fire and shot her twice. Soon after murdering her, the trio escaped.

Chaudhary added that after intense interrogation Nadeem broke down and confessed his involvement along with Danish and Anas.

‘Aleem was not involved in the crime so he has been given a clean chit. A man-hunt is being made to trace out the possible whereabouts of the absconding duo,' he added.
