UP IT dept raids 45 bases of scam-tainted engg

The Income Tax (IT) department of Uttar Pradesh on Thursday raided 25 bases of Yadav Singh, chief engineer of Noida Authority for alleged tax violation.

During the raids conducted at Yadav’s bases in Ghaziabad, Gurgaon, Noida and Delhi, the state IT department found documents of over 40 bogus companies. Krishna Saini, DG of IT department informed media that 13 lockers were sealed and other property-related documents were seized.

Saini said the prices of the plots that Yadav allegedly owned may amount to several thousands of crores.

He has also hinted that several officials of UP government may be quizzed in the case. Yadav Singh has allegedly formed 40 bogus companies during the previous Mayawati-led government in the state.
These bogus companies allegedly sold plots to other firms.

Yadav is considered to be a close-aide of former UP chief minister Mayawati. He is the main accused in Rs 954 crore scam that took place in Noida authority.

Surprisingly, the scam-tainted engineer was given charges of three important departments in the state by the ruling Akhilesh Yadav-led government.
