UP govt grants Rs 685 crore for toilets construction

Uttar Pradesh government has made a provision of Rs 685 crore for construction of toilets under Swachh Bharat Mission (rural) in the supplementary grants of Rs 14,865.14 crore, the assembly was informed on Monday.
As per the detail provided in the grants tabled by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Monday in assembly, of the proposed 685 crore for construction of toilets in rural areas, Rs 556.8 crore are in under the head of Panchayati Raj department, whereas Rs 123.8 crore is under special component plan for scheduled castes. Another Rs 4.6 crore is under the head of Scheduled Tribes welfare.
For additional assistance and relief to sugar mills for payment of cane dues to farmers a provision of Rs 315 crore has been made. Provision has also been made to compensate Rs 125 crore taken from the contingency fund for payment of cane dues of cooperative sugar mills.
