UP govt clears metro extension in Noida

The UP Cabinet on Tuesday approved expansion of six-kilometer long metro line between Noida’s Sector 32 and Sector 62. The cabinet, in its meet, authorised the Chairman and CEO of Noida Authority to sign memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Delhi Metro Corporation (DMRC) which will carry the construction work.
The service is expected to come as a boon for thousands of people who commute between Noida and Ghaziabad. The line will provide an accessible link to NH-24, a highway which separates the two cities of UP, as well.
The twitter handle of UP Chief Minister Office informed that the cabinet has approved the expansion of line and have asked the industrial development authority to start the process and to fulfil all formalities in this regard.
The cabinet has also cleared that the authority will bear the entire cost of the project which is Rs 1,880 crore. The extension will provide connectivity to sectors 32, 34, 35, 50, 51, 52, 60, 61, 62, 63 64, 65, 66, 71, 72 and NH 24. The existing metro line caters to only 55 immediate and adjoining sectors.
Currently, the city has six metro stations with the service ending at Sector 32.
Apart from this, the UP cabinet also approved creation of Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) that will pave the way for formation of Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC), a company which will ensure construction of metro between Noida and Greater Noida.
