In a sop to the state employees and pensioners before Diwali festival, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday approved the hike of Dearness Allowances(DA) of the state employees by 7 per cent from July,2012.
Now the state employees, teachers and employees of the aided schools and colleges and employees of the local bodies would receive 72 per cent DA instead of 65 per cent of their basic salary. The pensioners of the state government would also get a hike of 7 per cent in their DA.
According to an official statement here today, the state government would bear an additional expenditure of Rs 1028.74 crores annually due to his hike.
The employees would receive the cash benefit of the hiked DA from their December salary while from July to November would be deposited in their GPF account.
However, the state employees who are yet to get the revised payscale since January 2006 would get 151 per cent DA instead of 139 per cent.
The DA approval comes after the Unemployment Allowance and the funds being provided to girls in Uttar Pradesh to help boost education and self sufficiency. These two initiatives are a part of SP’s election promises and have been duely fulfilled.
