UP employees’ strike paralyses health services across state

Health services in Uttar Pradesh were severely paralysed with the para-medical and technicians joining the seven-day long strike of the state employees on Monday.

The Akhilesh Yadav-led UP government has warned the agitating employees of  stern action if they fail to withdraw their strike immediately.  The state also considering to enforce essential services maintenance act (ESMA) to make a crackdown on the agitating employees.

Rajya Karmachari Adhikar Manch president Ajay Singh said that starting Monday morning, the employees have shut the ophthalmology departments across government hospitals. The X-ray and ECG technicians, along with physiotherapists, have also joined the bandwagon.

While the lab technicians joined the agitations last week, the nurses and other health departments would be joining it later this week. Singh said, ‘They were yet to get any invitation from the state government for talks’.

‘We are ready for any harsh action  by the state government including ESMA,’ he said. They said there was no official communication from the state government.
