UP assembly adjourned sine die amid uproar

Uttar Pradesh assembly was adjourned sine-die following uproarious scenes by the entire opposition over delay in announcing the State Advisory Price (SAP) of sugarcane in the state.

On Wednesday being the last day of the brief winter session of the state assembly, and the house was adjourned indefinitely within 30 minutes amid din by Opposition.

The opposition BSP, BJP, RLD and the Congress did not allow the House to function when their raised anti-government slogans and clashed with the security personnel. While the opposition members were in the well of the house, the Congress members sat on dharna. They were demanding that the govt should immediately announce cane price. Leader of the opposition Swami Prasad Maurya alleged that the cane farmers were forced to burn their produce due to the apathetic attitude of the Samajwadi Party govt by not announcing the SAP.  State Parliamentary affairs minister Mohammad Azam Khan said that the BSP has no right to talk about the canefarmers as their government had sold off the sugarmills to the 'mafias' at throw away price. He also said that opposition wanted the extension of the session but now they are not allowing the house to function.

Speaker Mata Prasad Pandey took up the agenda of the House when the opposition refuse to take their seats. Two bills were also passed during the noisy scenes.  Later the House was adjourned for indefinite period.
