Mutilated body of an unidentified middle-aged man was found in Outer Delhi’s Narela area on Saturday morning. Police alleged that the man came under the wheels of a vehicle. A probe has been initiated into the matter.
According to the police, the matter came to light at around 6.30 am on Saturday morning when a local resident of a village in Narela area saw a body part of a man lying on the street while another part was found lying 50 metres away. He then made a PCR call and the body was sent to Babu Jag Jivan Ram Hospital.
Police said that it appears to be a case of accidental death since the deceased was allegedly mowed down and then dragged for meters by an unknown vehicle in the intervening night of Friday and Saturday as tyre marks were found on the man’s body.
“We got a call at around 7 am about the matter. Seeing the condition of the body, it appears that the man came under a vehicle like a tractor and was dragged on for meters. It is also possible that the driver of the vehicle was in an inebriated state. Possibility of a murder cannot be ruled out yet at this stage but prima facie it seems to be an accidental death,” said a senior police official.
Efforts are on to trace the vehicle of the accused. Police are also questioning local residents to identify the middle-aged man, police said.
