A 20-year-old boy was stabbed multiple times in a cricket ground near his house in North Delhi’s Kamal Vihar colony in Burari area on Tuesday evening.
The deceased, Pankaj was playing cricket when a group of three to four unidentified men came and stabbed him with a knife after which they managed to flee from the spot. Several teams have been formed to investigate the case, police said.
According to the police, the incident took place at about 3 pm in Kamal Vihar colony where Pankaj was attacked while he was playing cricket. Onlookers informed police that the culprits first stabbed him on his back and then stabbed him in his stomach after which he fell on the ground. Locals then made a PCR call after which the cops rushed the boy to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. Pankaj used to work as a salesman and lived with his family in the Kamal Vihar colony. In the preliminary investigation, police suspect Pankaj was killed because of an old rivalry between him and some of his friends. Police are questioning family members, relatives and locals of the area. His body has been sent for post-mortem examination after which it will be handed over to his family members, police said. “We are scanning the CCTV footage of the area to identify the suspects. We will make arrests soon,” said a senior police officer. Police have registered a case of murder at the Burari police station under relevant sections of the IPC.
