Unidentified man run over by car in Kashmere Gate

A 42-year-old unidentified man was run over by a speeding car while sleeping on a footpath near the Kashmere Gate flyover in the wee hours of Saturday, police said. According to eyewitnesses, the car dragged the victim for over 50 metres, before it hit an electricity pole and came to a halt.

The police said the victim was taken to a nearby government hospital, where he was declared brought dead. 

"A case has been registered under various Sections of the IPC at the Civil Lines police station,” said a senior police officer.

The police have arrested the errant car driver, identified as Mohsin Khan, a resident of Agra, and impounded the vehicle. Khan told the police that he was driving his friend's car. Police said the victim was sleeping alone at the spot.
