Unidentified, headless body of youth found on railway tracks

An Unidentified headless body of a man was found in a travel bag on the railway tracks of Anand Vihar railway station in East Delhi on Friday. 

Prima facie it appears that the man was strangled, said police. Police are trying to establish the identity of the man.

According to the Railway police,they were informed on Friday at around 8 am after a passer-by noticed a body of a man lying in a bag at the railway tracks. 

The railway police along with the RPF rushed to the spot.

“We have decided to preserve the body for one or more days so that he can be identified. No documents were found near the body which could help in ascertaining his identity. 

“Preliminary investigation suggests that the man was in his early twenties. It appears that he was strangled,” said a senior Railway police officer.

Police are trying to analyse the CCTV footage of the area to establish how the bag was left on the tracks.

“The exact cause and time of death will be clear only after post-mortem of the body is conducted,” added the officer. A case under relevant sections of the IPC has been registered at the Anand Vihar railway police station. Further investigation is underway.
