An unidentified couple were killed by an oncoming train after they allegedly jumped in front of it on the railway tracks near Samai Pur Badli area in outer Delhi on Friday evening.
The incident took place at around 5.30 pm on Friday and was witnessed by some workers stationed at a nearby railway crossing, who reported the matter to the police immediately. The two of them, allegedly jumped in front of Jammu Mail, said a police official.
He further added that no suicide note was recovered from the scene. Even if there was any, there are high chances of it getting damaged.
The case is being investigated by the Railway Police, who have not been able to ascertain their identities yet. No identity cards or anything equally sufficient to establish details regarding their identity were recovered from their possession, said the police official investigating the case.
The workers in the nearby railway crossing, who claimed to be eye witnesses, told police that they had seen the two of them walk together near the tracks and they suddenly jumped in front of the speeding train.
They also said that by the time police reached the spot, the two bodies were also run over by another train that followed the Jammu Mail.
The police official added, since they were reportedly seen together before the incident, it seems quite likely that they knew each other.
There is high probability that they could be together, however, it is too early to draw any conclusion without ascertaining their identities and further investigation of the case.
