Under training S-I arrested for extortion, molestation

Delhi Police on Friday arrested a 28-year-old under training Sub-Inspector (S-I) posted at the Mukherjee Nagar police station of the North-west district on charges of extortion and molestation by a woman who runs a coaching centre in the same area. The arrested S-I has been identified as Deepak, said highly placed sources.

Sources said that three days back, the North-west district police received a complaint from a woman who heads a coaching centre in Mukherjee Nagar area that a Sub-Inspector in the district has been extorting money from her. She also pressed charges of molestation against him.

According to the complainant, in 2015, Deepak had taken coaching for SSC (Staff Selection Commission) examination from her coaching centre. Once he cleared examinations for the post of Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police, he was posted at the Mukherjee Nagar police station as an under training Sub-Inspector. The complainant alleged that Deepak used to come to her coaching center and extort money from her on the pretext of framing her under false cheating cases. When she refused to give him the money, he threatened her that he will get her coaching centre shut. 

The complainant also alleged that Deepak misbehaved with her and molested her several times.

According to sources, the complainant even recorded one instance on her mobile phone where Deepak is seen trying to extort money from her at her coaching centre. She further approached the senior authorities of the North-west district where she showed them the mobile recording.

Based on the woman’s complaint, the local police arrested Deepak from his house in Faridabad in Haryana on the same day. Departmental inquiry was initiated into the matter and the charges of extortion and molestation against Deepak were proved true. Based on which Deepak was arrested and sent to judicial custody on Friday.
