Under-construction building collapses, one dead, 5 injured

One person was killed and five others, including a woman were injured when the basement of an under construction building collapsed in South Delhi’s New Friends Colony area on Friday morning.
According to police, the deceased has been identified as Badri Prasad (55), a resident of Govindpuri area. He was declared dead by the hospital authorities after he was rushed to AIIMS Trauma Centre. At the time of the incident, Prasad along with five other persons were working at the construction site.
The injured persons have been identified as Chandra Pal, Santosh, Prema Devi, Makhan and Bhupender. They all received critical injuries and are being treated at the hospital.
The incident took place at 10.10 am when the basement of the under construction building collapsed. All the injured people were rushed to AIIMS Trauma Centre, where Badri was declared brought dead, said a police official.
Three fire tenders along with an ambulance and six police control room teams were rushed to the spot and a rescue operation was launched without any delay, said a government official.
The police have registered a case of negligence in connection with the incident, said the police official.
