Unauthorised houses on protected lands will also be regularised: CM

Ahead of the Delhi Assembly polls schedule for November-December this year, the Delhi government has expressed its commitment to regularise all unauthorised colonies in Ridge areas and near ASI monuments.

Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, on Sunday, said  her government was working sincerely to provide relief to colonies on protected lands such as Ridge, forest and ASI land.

She said, ‘No colony can be discriminated against,  as residents have spent their entire life’s income to construct the residences. The days of demolition and uprooting families have become a thing of the  past. The future belongs to the poor and middle income residents of unauthorised colonies.’

She was addressing a mammoth rally attended by over 25,000 people at Aya Nagar under Chhatarpur Assembly segment, wherein she, along with UD Minister Arvinder Singh, were felicitated for regularisation of more colonies in Chhatarpur.

She said all unauthorised colonies would definitely get legal tags and residents would become owners of their properties. She assured the residents of Aya Nagar and nearby colonies that there would be no break in developmental works.  

UD Minister Arvinder singh, former speaker Prem sSingh, local MLA Balram Tanwar and former MLA Vijay Lochav also addressed the gathering.

Dikshit, while referring to all-round uniform development taking place in Delhi, said, ‘It is an unending process.’ While referring to a demand raised by Tanwar to connect INA with Chhatarpur by providing an elevated route, Dikshit said the city government would consider the project for early execution and a study would be conducted soon for this purpose.

The connectivity would benifit lakhs of commuters between AIIMS, Delhi Haat and Chhatarpur temple and historical monuments around Qutub Minar. She also referred to various social schemes such as pension to widows, handicapped and aged, Annashri, kerosene -free Delhi and others, which have been benefitting lakhs of poor and underprivileged persons.

‘The government has constructed major hospitals such as ILBS, and fly overs, Delhi Metro and provided swanky buses. DTC buses and Metro are catering to 75 lakh persons daily. The achievements in the field of education are also praiseworthy. The city government has been fully utilising the entire tax collection on infrastructure development and social sector schemes,’ added Dikshit.


CEMENT-CONCRETE ROAD PROJECT KICKED OFF

Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit inaugurated a project of cement-concrete road for internal lanes of Sector-II, DIZ area, Gole Market at MS flats-Peshwa Road and J-Block, Mandir  Marg on Saturday. The work on DIZ Sector-II  will be completed by May 2014. The project would cost approximately Rs 8.61 crore. On the occasion, Archna Arora, chairperson, New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) and senior officers were also present.
