Unauthorised connections to be legalised: DJB

The Delhi Jal Board (DJB) on Thursday announced a new scheme for regularisation of domestic unauthorised water connections. The scheme was approved by the Board in its last meeting. “Under the new scheme the regularisation charges have been substantially reduced. It is another major step by DJB towards enforcing better water accounting as well as <g data-gr-id="18">reduction</g> in the non-revenue water. It is also aimed at bringing more consumers in the billing net of DJB,” claimed a senior officer. Presently, DJB has 2.15 lakh consumers and as per estimate, a large number of households/establishments are outside the DJB billing network. According to DJB officials, under the new scheme the domestic consumers having unauthorised water connections can apply for regularisation of the connection by paying a nominal amount of Rs 3310.
