U’khand retired soldiers felicitate MP Tarun Vijay

Uttarakhand’s largest retired soldiers’ organization, Uttarakhand Ex-services League, on Monday felicitated Rajya Sabha MP Tarun Vijay. The league’s president Brigadier RS Rawat said Vijay had been supporting the cause of soldiers and was the first MP to visit their office post-Independence and offer help.

Vijay said: “Besides Devbhoomi, the state is also known as Veerbhoomi as every household in the hill state produces at least one soldier to serve the nation. From the time of Victoria Cross to present Paramveer Chakra, soldiers of this soil have won the highest gallantry awards for their sacrifice in the battlefield.”

The MP also donated one ambulance, a projection system, two desktops and one laptop, and one inverter to the Uttarakhand ex-services league from his MP fund.

He added, “Once a soldier is always a soldier. He never retires. Realising their long-pending demands, the Central government is committed to <g data-gr-id="17">fulfill</g> the promises made during the 2104 general elections. We should thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar for timely action on the OROP scheme. Both are soldiers in civil dress.”
