U’khand: Rain brings relief

Unexpected rain brought down temperature in several parts of Uttarakhand on Sunday.
Roorkee, Haridwar, Rishikesh and Haldwani that were facing slightly hot weather for the past three days witnessed a pleasant Sunday.
The maximum temperature in Dehradun settled at 25° Celsius, seven notches less than Saturday’s 32° Celsius. In Mussorrie, too, the maximum temperature dipped to 15° Celsius from 23° Celsius on Saturday.
Most parts of the Uttarakhand received light to moderate rain on Sunday. Kedarnath recorded -1° Celsius, while in Badrinath, the temperature dipped to -2° Celsius. In the Kumaon region, Nainital recorded 15° Celsius, while Pithoragarh and Dharchula recorded 11° Celsius and 16° Celsius, respectively.
“Light to moderate rain lashed mainly Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Tehri and Uttarkashi in the Garhwal region. Regions above 3500 meters altitude may receive 10 to 25 cm snowfall. The weather will remain the same on Monday too. The weather is expected to improve from Tuesday,” said Anand Sharma, director of state MET department.
