U’khand CM keen on boosting local art, culture

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat said his government primary aim was to protect indigenous art and culture and sincere efforts were being taken to promote artists of different domain and providing platform to them at national/ international level.
He said Almora has made a distinct place in India and abroad for its art and culture. The CM inaugurated colourful effigies of Ravana’s family prepared by Putla Samithi in the hill town on Thursday.
Rawat said the state government was keen to promote and popularise these annual fairs, which would be included in the state tourism calendar. He said: “People from abroad visit Almora to enjoy the Dusshera of the area. To sustain the local culture is our primary aim. Almora is also famous for dialects, decoration and artistic building architecture.”
The state government has sanctioned Rs 50 lakh for the promotion of building architecture in the town. The government is also working on the protection of building architecture of Almora, Uttarkashi and Purolla regions.
The Chief Minister appealed to the public to maintain the greenery of the city.
