UGC NET exam conducted amidst huge chaos in city

The UGC-NET examination was organised on Sunday amindst huge mismanagement and chaos. The level of mismanagement was such that several candidates missed the crucial exam. Students alleged that last minute changes of centres were made and the students were not informed about the changes.

‘Today around 50 candidates at one centre, who were to appear for UGC-NET Examination, could not give the said examination as the centres which were allotted to them earlier were changed at the last moment without giving prior intimation to the candidates. Many of the candidates who reached their allotted centres found that their centres have been changed and failed to appear in the examination,’ Ankita Kaushik, an aggrieved student, said.

‘According to the information provided by the UGC website, I went to Sheikh Sarai for my exam but unfortunately, when I reached there I came to know that my centre was Jesus and Mary College in Chanakyapuri. I tried getting to the centre but missed the exam since I couldn’t make it in time,’ Kaushik added.

‘My friend missed the examination because the website provided wrong information about the examinations centre. It was only after we reached the centre did we find out that it had been changed, Sujit Kumar, who was accompanying his relative to one of the centre’s said.

Head of NET Bureau Surendar Singh, however, denied the allegations. ‘It is totally wrong. There was no mismanagement from our side. The website carries the correct information, but the students who are blaming us did not check the website properly.’
