UAV put to use for surveillance over tense Trilokpuri for the first time

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV), or mini-drones with cameras flying in the sky, were used for the first time by Delhi Police to conduct a search operation anywhere in the city. On Tuesday, eight blocks of east Delhi’s Trilokpuri were under surveillance by one such UAV.

The eight blocks surveilled on Tuesday include blocks 14, 15, 20, 26, 27, 28, 35 and 36.

With the help of videos captured by the UAV, all those houses in which bricks and other projectiles of potential use in the riots were spotted were searched by the police thoroughly, said Ajay Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (east). He further added that after the search was over by late afternoon, police recovered dozens of daggers, full length swords, shorter swords, butcher knives, long sticks and many other potential instruments of human combat from certain houses.

However, no guns or country made pistols were recovered after Tuesday’s search. Apart from that, bricks were recovered from the terrace of several houses  which were allegedly hurled at the time of the clashes.
