UAE girl lands in Mumbai after tiff with dad, reunited

A small fight between her and her father landed a 22-year-old woman hailing from United Arab Emirates from a hotel room in South-east Delhi’s Greater Kailash I to Dahisar railway station in Mumbai.

According to an officer privy to the investigation, Sara Khalfan had landed in Delhi on March 27. She came with her family for a vacation. However, after a dispute with her father over a trivial matter, she left the hotel room on the morning of March 28. Unable to find his daughter, Sara’s father approached the Greater Kailash police station. According to a complaint lodged by Sara’s father, she had left the room at around 6 am wearing a burkha.

“We found it very difficult to understand what her father was saying because he couldn’t speak English. The first few hours were lost in finding a translator,” said a police official.

An alert official of the Dahisar railway station identified Sara based on the information flashed in the wireless message and alerted the Mumbai Police. Following which Sara was reunited with her family. According to Delhi Police, Khalfan had checked into Hotel Justa at Greater Kailash I with her family on Monday night but went missing the following morning. Delhi Police then alerted their counterparts in other states, and formed several teams to trace her.
