Two suspects had gate-crashed event attended by Tanzil Ahmed

A day after Tanzil Ahmed, DSP, National Investigation Agency (NIA) was ambushed in Western UP when he was returning from a family wedding with his wife and two children, sources said two suspects had gate-crashed the wedding in Bijnor. These two suspects could be the men behind the killing of Ahmed.

Meanwhile, the investigation agencies have zeroed in on around 53 mobile numbers that were active in the area at the time of the attack, out of which some numbers were activated only a week ago.

During the speedy probe conducted by NIA, STF and UP Police, it came to light that two suspects were spotted by Ahmed’s brother in the wedding of their niece in Bijnor on Saturday. When Ragiv, elder brother of Ahmed spotted them, he questioned their identity and the reason for attending the wedding celebration as they were not known to any of the relatives and vice versa.

“Initially the duo fumbled and a few seconds later, one of them laughed and told him that they have accidentally landed in that wedding. They further said that they were supposed to attend another wedding in the same locality but out of some confusion they entered that particular wedding,” Ragiv told the investigation agencies.

Ragiv also mentioned that the duo left the area in a Pulsar motorcycle. “There is a possibility that the duo was the ones who were behind the killing of Ahmed and that they had intentionally gate-crashed the wedding to recce Ahmed’s presence and his movement,” a source close to investigation said.

The footage and the photographs of the wedding have been taken into the possession. Also, the footage of another wedding that was few meters away has also been taken into possession to verify the claims made by the duo suspects. Meanwhile, the sketches of the duo are being made with the help of Ahmed’s brother.

If sources are to be believed, the agencies are not leaving any stone unturned and the close relatives of Ahmed are also under scanner. It is yet to be established whether the killing was planned by any terror outfit or not but the senior officials are not ruling out the possibility. It is important to mention that Ahmed was deputed in NIA and was the man behind nabbing IS sympathisers, SIMI terrorists, busting fake currency syndicates and Western UP was the base of his strong network related to the informers.

Shootout tragedy leaves Tanzil’s children traumatised
Any unwanted noise inside the house is haunting the teenage daughter and son of Tanzil Ahmed as the duo witnessed the brutal killing of their father right in front of their eyes in the wee hours of Sunday. The two have been advised counselling sessions.

“It’s more than thirty-five hours and the two have not slept. They are not eating properly and throughout the day both the children are not willing to talk to anyone except some officials who questioned them related to the incident,” said one of Ahmed’s relative. The names of the children are being withheld by Millennium Post due to security reasons.

He further added that both the children get afraid when all of a sudden they hear loud noises, or any unwanted noise as these noises are making the children recall the time when two assailants on a bike ambushed their father. Ahmed was shot 21 times while four bullets were pumped into the body of his wife, Farzana, who is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Noida.

K K Sharma, DG (BSF) along with Sanjeev Singh, IG (NIA) visited Farzana to take her health update. Meanwhile, the UP government has announced a compensation of Rs 20 lakh to Ahmed’s family. On Sunday, the Delhi government announced Rs 1 crore as compensation while BSF has announced Rs 20 lakh compensation. Meanwhile, the family members claimed negligence by the UP Police during the initial stage.

On Monday, both the children talked to media and said the killers fires non-stop at their father. Even after the bullets of one of the weapon finished, they loaded another weapon and fired at him. “Soon after the accused fired the first gun-shot, Papa asked us to bend down,” they told mediapersons.
