Two snatchers, three jewel thieves arrested by cops

Two mobile phone snatchers, identified as Vikash and a juvenile, were apprehended by Keshav Puram police of north-west district.

‘Deep Sikha, a resident of Keshav Puram was coming home from C-7 block, after her tuition class at 7 pm when two young boys snatched her mobile phone,’ said a police official.

She immediately raised alarm. Constable Dinesh, who was patrolling the area, along with a few onlookers apprehended both the boys.

The snatched mobile phone was recovered from them. According to the police, a case has been registered.

In another incident, in north-west district’s Model Town, the Delhi police have arrested three persons with jewellery worth Rs 5 lakh in their possession.

Lalit Mahatoo, 19, Satya Narayan, 25, Ram Bharose Shar, 23, were arrested on the complaint from Derawalan Nagar intimating that jeweleries worth Rs 35-40 lakh was stolen from his house. As none of the locks was found broken, the family suspected the role of one of their servants, Lalit.

‘It was informed that a fortnight ago another servant, Rajesh, who had worked for four  days was fired by the owner on suspicion of the loss of keys,’  said a police official.

‘We interrogated many servants in that area and finally  found the addresses of both alleged servants,’ said a police official.

A team was formed under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner of Police, Model Town, Shweta Chauhan and the accused were apprehended.

‘During interrogation  it was revealed that the third accused, Lalit Mahto, was also serving the house for four years. Jewelleries worth Rs 5 lakhs were recovered, from them,’ said a police official.

According to the police, further efforts are on to recover the remaining jewellery, which is suspected to be in possession of another accused, Rajesh, who is absconding.
