Two sitting councillors in city BJP’s poll committee

Yogender Chandolia and Rajesh Gehlot are the two sitting councillors who have found a place in the election committee of city BJP announced on Sunday. Chandolia secured a position in the 17-member election committee, while Gehlot has been included as special invitee.
Rajesh Gehlot is presently chairman of standing committee in South Delhi Municipal Corporation and is considered a prominent Jat leader in the Najafgarh area. He represents the Matiala ward and is also considered to be frontrunner for the party’s candidate from Matiala assembly segment.

Chandolia, former chairman of erstwhile Delhi Municipal Corporation and former chairman of North DMC, presently represents the Dev Nagar ward. He was recently appointed vice-president in city BJP and is being projected as the face of  the scheduled caste/scheduled tribe community in the party. He is also considered a frontrunner for the BJP ticket from Karolbagh assembly segment.
The 137 odd councillors, however, were expecting more seats in the election committee. However, the core committee has 13 councillors including the three mayors, three leaders of the house and standing committee chairmen.
