Two school children dead as speeding water tanker hits bike

Two school-going children, aged below 15 years, were killed in a road accident in Noida on Monday. Police said that the students met with the accident when they were returning from their school on a motorbike and a speeding water tanker hit them from the front. They were taken to the hospital where they succumbed to their injuries. Police have registered a case and the accused driver has been arrested.

According to police, the incident took place around 11 am near ESI dispensary in Sector 12 when the two, Vikash and Aashish, were returning from their school, located in Sector 12, and were going towards Rahul Vihar in Ghaziabad. 

When they reached near the crossing, a speeding tanker, coming from the opposite direction and hit their bike. The impact of the accident was so high that the victims were thrown several metres away from the spot. The two received grievous injuries on their head and other parts. The accident led to a massive jam as the area is one of the busiest <g data-gr-id="23">place</g> in the city.

Passers-by called the PCR and the victims were taken to the District Hospital where they died after a few minutes of treatment. As they both were in school uniform, police identified them as students of class XI studying in Government Inter College in Sector 12. Police then informed their families and sent the bodies for post-mortem. 

A case was also registered against the errant driver and was arrested later. “We have registered a case under various sections and have arrested the accused driver. We have also handed the bodies to their families,” said an official investigating the matter.
