Two poachers held by STF in Gr Noida

The Special Task Force (West-UP) and wildlife Crime Branch of New Delhi have arrested two poachers who used to hunt endangered species of animals living in the forest area. Police have recovered skins of a tiger and leopard.

Police said during interrogating, the arrested poachers confessed to have hunted down these animals in Uttarkhand forest and carry it to sell it in the national Capital. However, the skins were also transported in foreign via Nepal, Bangladesh.

Bablu Kumar, Senior Superintendent of Police of STF said a tip off was received by Additional Superintendent of Police Ajay Shadev that poachers had moved from Uttrakhand along with skins of endangered species.

He said a team was formed who nab the duo in Kasana area of Greater Noida.

Police said the arrested accused have been identified as Mahesh Bhandari and Balam Singh Chawhan and they hail from Uttarkashi.

The SSP said the poachers hunted the endangered species of animals preserved in Uttarakhand forest and sold it at a very high cost in the Capital and NCR.
