Two Nigerians arrested for drug trafficking

Two Nigerian nationals have been arrested, in separate incidents for their alleged role in drug trafficking in the national capital, police said on Monday.

Daniel Obionou (28) and Peter Ojiake alias Eze (31) were arrested by the Crime Branch and 109 gms of Cocaine and 9 kg of prohibited and controlled chemical ‘Pseudo Ephedrine’ was recovered from them, police said. ‘Approximate price of Cocaine is Rs 2 crore and of Pseudo-Ephedrine is Rs 20 lakh,’ said Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Yadav.

On February 15, an input was received that one Nigerian national namely Daniel Obionou is indulging in the supply of Cocaine in Delhi and he would come near Metro Station, Sector 14, Dwarka to supply the drug to one of his clients.

Acting on the tip off, a trap was laid on the spot and Daniel Obionou was apprehended. 109 gms of fine quality of Cocaine was recovered from his possession, said Yadav.

The second incident took place on February 16 in which it was learnt that a drug trafficker will come near Veterinary Hospital, Palam-Dabri Road, Delhi, police said.

‘Following the information a police team laid a trap near expected place of his arrival and the accused was successfully apprehended. He was later identified as Peter Ojiaka. 9 kg Pseudo-Ephedrine was recovered from the bag being carried by him,’ said Yadav.

During interrogation, Ojiaka told police that he came to India several times on business visa and had brought the present consignment of illegal drugs from one of his Indian contact in Andheri, Mumbai.

He was going to courier the consignment to his other contact in Myanmar and after that the illegal drugs were to be supplied to China or other countries of Europe at much higher rates, said Yadav.
