Two nabbed for selling forged documents

Two persons, including an MCD employee, were arrested in New Delhi for allegedly selling forged birth certificates, police said on Wednesday.

Ajeet Kumar Dass and Jagbandhu Dass, a gardener working with MCD, were apprehended from New Chandrawal on Sunday following a tip-off, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sanjay Kumar Jain said.

Police recovered 537 fake birth certificates, seven fake rubber stamps and a computer among other articles.

'The gang used to charge Rs 1,000 for providing a fake birth certificate,' Jain said. 

'Ajeet is an employee in a printing press in New Delhi. He came in contact with Jagbandhu in 2009 and finding the business lucrative joined hands with the latter. Jagbandhu was continuously in touch with prospective clients,' he said.

Jagbandhu came to know that Ajeet knew computer works.

'Jagbandhu gave Rs 9,000 to Ajeet for buying computer and both of them started making forged birth certificates,' he said.

In 2010, the stock with Jagbandh u ran out. 

Ajeet got some forms printed from a printing press and since then, the two accused were allegedly preparing forged birth certificates and supplying them to various clients.
